An FIR was registered against Julie Khan in the Gulehra Sharif Police Station, Islamabad by Lubna, a fellow transwoman on the 16th of July, 2020. Lubna claimed in the FIR that a group of people led by Julie had barged into her house without cause and attacked her with knives.

Julie’s arrest has caused an uproar on social media with rights groups and ordinary citizens calling the case against her ‘fabricated’ and demanding her immediate release Julie' lawyer Hassan Niazi claims that it's a pressure tactic aimed at silencing her. How? Read on.

Julie has been a vocal critic of the sex work racket being run by several powerful transgender gurus. One of those gurus Najma wanted Julie to become her disciple, but Julie refused,” says Hassaan Niazi. “Najma responded by storming Julie’s house and beating her up."

Julie and her friend lodged an FIR against Najma and Nanhi, two culprits behind her attack. They were arrested and released on bail. They then proceeded to send goons to beat up Julie and her friend and lodged a fabricated FIR on them.

Acc to Niazi, she was assured her case would not be pursued. However she was arrested on 10 th August and is expected to get bail on Monday, insha Allah.

Right now, Julie is in Adiala Jail, officials maintain she has a separate cell AND IS NOT IN THE MEN'S SECTION. please clarify this fact. Why is Julie that important?

Julie is very vocal transgender rights activist on issues like gang rape, violence, abuse and the sex racket operating within her own community. She has appeared on several platforms. I'll leave them here.
